I believe that if the music is available for you to buy, you should buy it. However, if the music is very rare (in my case, Chinese music), it’s okay. I mean, I would buy the CDs if I could.
Also, I think it’s okay if you like a certain song or few songs from an album and don’t want the other songs.

the only people that complain about music downloading are the artists

if you had the choice of having your groceries delivered instantly and free
would you choose to walk to the store, shop, and pay for it too?
if you could have a take away of your choice delivered instantly and free would you choose to go out in the cold, get there, wait for it, and pay for it and walk back with it?
I think music has become so easy to throw around nowadays that it’s so simple to just download it, and if producers of musicians and companies etc. really cared that much, then they’d probably do something about it. Maybe they’re just happy someone’s listening to their music.
I don’t stand either way and do not support theft. If you are feeling guilty for downloading music from an artist then mail the artist directly a dollar or so for every album you have by them. One of my favorite artists was ranting and raving and telling a live concert to steal his music untill the price lowers in stores and maybe the industry will realize that they are ripping people off.
